Hello loyal saucy supporters! Saucy is coming to you from Monson, Maine, which is the last trail town on the entire AT!! We’re here to give you a quick update before we SUMMIT KATAHDIN! Official summit date is the 19th!! YAHOO
Brewbs in shambles- what’s new
Despite nearing the end of the trail and finally experiencing some flat terrain, our group has still experienced lots of drama and stress! Chameleon came down with a nasty stomach bug and we had to take a couple days off trail to let her body recover. Tissie sprained her ankle and then rolled it again! She now KT tapes it every day and takes the downhills very carefully. Finally, Cold Plunge is having some extreme knee pain which is causing him to miss the first few days of the hundred miles. We are very sad to start this final stretch with out him. All of this on top of being out here for 6 months and navigating logistics every single day is a LOT! We have put our bodies and minds through SO MUCH! Forgive us if we seem a little foggy, the hiker brain is seeping in 😅
In truth, it is a miracle that we are all still on trail and still together. About 70% of the people we’ve met have gotten off trail already for illness or injury. We think it is a major testament to the toughness of this group that we have been able to face so many challenges and still come out the other side, about to summit Katahdin together.
Maine is still a gorgeous fairyland, and yes we still have fun!
We’ll be back after the 100 mile wilderness and summiting Katahdin! And thank you all again for your support through everything! We wish you all a wonderful fall week🧙♀️
